What is Your Superpower?

Suitable for children 8-11 years old

Dates & times

DATES: June 27-30, 2022

TIMES: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm

VENUE: The Grove, The Harbour School

Description

This group is suitable for kids aged 8-11 years old.

What amazing powers do superheroes have?  In comic books and movies it is flying, the power to be invisible, or incredible strength.

But in real life, the most awesome superpowers are kindness, compassion, empathy and confidence.

Research shows that individuals with these character traits are more likely to be successful at school, at work, and in life.

In this group, we will focus on developing strength of character. It will improve how kids feel about themselves, and make them more ready to help others.

We will use play and other engaging activities to help kids understand all the ways that they are unique individuals with different super strengths (and weaknesses – and that’s okay). They will also learn that helping others makes everyone feel happier, including the one who offers to help. Together, we will explore:

  • Empathy and perspective taking
  • Gratitude and saying “thank you”
  • Seeing the positive in themselves, others, and in different types of situations
  • Understanding responsibility and consequences
  • Earning respect, success, and opportunities (avoiding entitlement)
  • The value of perseverance and determination – some things require hard work

Lots of fun and activities will be included!
