Dyslexia, Reading & Writing

The gift of literacy is one that everyone deserves. We take great pride in building up a child's confidence in reading and writing, and seeing them acquire skills that will help them tackle future literacy challenges, independently.

We strive for positive breakthroughs. When a child's writing capability matches up to their creativity and they are able to convey their ideas on paper as well as they would in speech, or when they are able to read as dictated by their interest not their ability - these moments are what literacy is all about.

The program we offer for literacy is Orton-Gillingham (OG). The OG approach was devised to deal with literacy problems arising from dyslexia and it is recommended by the International Dyslexia Association.
More information about OG and multi-sensory language teaching can be found here.

Students with other conditions affecting reading, writing and spelling, will also reap rewards from an investment in literacy. Orton-Gillingham has been shown to be superior even in general education for children already at grade level in reading, writing and spelling.

Our Director of Speech, Language and Literacy is Fiona McElhone and our literacy instructors are Vivian Shepard and Henrik Hoeg.
