Dr. Jadis Blurton
Founder and Clinical Director of the Jadis Blurton Family Development Center, Dr. Jadis Blurton has practised psychology for over 30 years and is an expert in educational psychology, child development, learning disabilities, special and gifted education and attention and behavioral disorders in children and adolescents.
Jadis champions the individual. Her personal approach, vision and commitment to providing mental health support and learning resources for children and families in Hong Kong informs her philosophy and technique to therapy. As a therapist, Jadis has always taken the role of guide, supporter and interpreter, helping her clients to find solutions to emotional challenges and problems and giving them opportunities to facilitate their personal growth.
With extensive clinical expertise and empathy, Jadis has worked with individuals to address a variety of issues including parenting skills, blended families, generation gap, cultural differences, alternative lifestyle preferences and mood disorders - addressing their impact on the individual as well as the family system.
Jadis received her Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from the University of California, Riverside, and is licensed as a Clinical Psychologist in the U.S. Prior to coming to Hong Kong in 1996, Jadis taught at the University of California and California State University for several years, as well as practicing clinically and directing a children's diagnostic clinic in West Virginia.
Qualifications: M.A., Ph.D. Life-Span Developmental Psychology, M.A. Special Education, Licensed Clinical Psychologist (USA), Registered Psychologist (Hong Kong).
Dr. Blurton is a mother to six children in a blended family.
