The BFDC Assessment Team

Dr. Kristie Craigen is Director of Assessments. She leads the Assessment Team in administering tests, analysing the results, and producing the final report.

Dr. Kristie Craigen (above left) is the Director of the BFDC’s Assessment Team. Working closely with with Dr. Alison Cook (above right), Assessment Consultant, the team has over 30 years combined experience in psychological testing, and are well known in Hong Kong for their rigorous, data-driven reports.

Both Drs. Craigen and Cook received extensive mentorship and training from Dr. Jadis Blurton, the center’s Founder and Clinical Director.

Tests and Observations

Providing a whole-person understanding of the individual is the aim of the Assessment Team. Drs. Craigen and Cook personally oversee the administration of a range of psychological testing tools, and provide in-depth analysis of the results.

Important qualitative information gleaned from personal observations of the client from family members, educators and other observers are also included in the final report, to which they add their own expert views. The result is a detailed and rounded picture of an individual’s emotional and cognitive well being.

Psychoeducational Assessments

When a child is struggling at school and seems to be held back by internal barriers, a Psychoeducational Assessment can be pivotal in discovering the cause of the problem. A range of learning difficulties, processing disorders, and developmental issues can be identified, as well as social-emotional delays that may interfere with success at school.

Assessments also go one step further – they not only illuminate areas of weakness, but also shine a light on strengths. This provides the child with a roadmap to move ahead and find success with recommendations that draw on their innate abilities.

Consider booking an assessment if your child is:

  • bored or under-challenged academically
  • unexpectedly struggling at school
  • having difficulty learning a particular skill
  • suspected of having a learning disability
  • struggling emotionally or socially
  • having difficulty with attention or focus

The BFDC provides follow up services for children who would benefit from specific support, including speech and language therapy and ADHD coaching for secondary students.
