Description

This program is suitable for children 7-11 years old.

The return to school after holidays can be exciting and full of hope but can also bring with it challenges around adapting back to the school environment. Coming back to school — even after a brief holiday —  requires a shift to a new routine and reintegration into school-appropriate behaviour and the need for social skills.

The way children interact with their peers and handle their emotions can decide the course of a child’s experience as they develop and confront the individual and social challenges of school. The ability to accurately recognize one’s emotions leads to better impulse control and self-regulation, while taking perspective and practicing empathy will inform good decision making and negotiating conflicts.

This program will focus on learning about emotions, perceptions, responses to conflict and coping skills as well as how our thoughts, behaviors and emotions are linked. We will draw on art and play therapy techniques, as well as CBT-based approaches in order to foster the social and emotional development of your child.

The overall objective for this program is to equip your child with an increased ability to self-manage their emotions and to demonstrate better communication and relationship skills as well as get back into the swing of school after the holidays.
